Entry for September 25, 2005 magnify

Life is a great journey filled with twist and turns :0, ah yeah that's deep isnt' it..?. I mean after all as one get's older one start's to take notice of what the meaning of life is..

For me it's been a variety of things that have happend, and I am looking forward to what is around the next corner each and every day. There are day's when one questions if you want to open the door, get out of bed, wash your face, eat, read the paper and open the magical mystery door.

We all know that some days are filled with rain ( bad ), some days scream Sunshine ( great days) but most of them are average...hmm....cloudy, partly cloudy, foggy, you get the picture..
Well, let's not read to much into this analyzation here, Im just trying to get my blog started..

Ahhh, what the hell, I think that the best day's are fridays, I agree with The " Boomtown rat's" that their song " I hate Monday's" is a fitting song for the average joe ( me included ), Monday's have never been a favorite of mine but as the week progress then the ultimate day for me would be Friday...

Speaking of Friday this past date of Sept 23, was nothing short of a great experience..One word say's it all..U2 live and in concert at the Target Center, and to boot a lucky scanned ticket for 3 to see them in concert in the ellipse..

To be 20 feet from "Bono" from start to end is almost a religiouse experience, the songs, his Rock Star image makes this Human being nothing short of a Miracle.

I have alway's liked their music and thought it was up there with Queen ( Freddie Mercury ), Pink Floyd, and a lot of other great bands until May 5, 2001 when I saw them for the second time.
My first introduction was at the 1983 Us Festival ( thank you Steve Wozniak ), but my rememberance of them at this event is rather limited. At that time I was into Van Halen, Foreigner, Queen, and other band's had a stronger presence, Ah..The Irish lad's had just released " Under A Blood Red Sky" and I had noticed New Year's day, Sunday bloody Sunday, I will follow and I liked the raw sound that emitted from the speakers that hot Memorial day weekend.

What do you expect when the temp's were in the 90's under the Hot dry California sun that summer day.. U2 was not on my mind, there were other groups : Inxs, Van Halen ( David Lee Roth) Men at Work, Oingo Boingo, The English Beat, Stevie Nicks ( Hot ), Stray Cats, The Clash, David Bowie ( China Girl ) and other great groups.
When U2 took the stage around 12:20 until 1:10pm I must have had a sun stroke or something, why their music and presence hasn't been recorded I'll never know but from several websites I know now that they played the following tunes :

Gloria, I threw a brick-a-dau without me, A cat named Dubh, Into the Heart, New Year's Day, Surrender, Two Hearts beat as one, Sunday Bloody Sunday, Electrical Co.
Encore: I will follow, 40..

Looking at this playlist what the heck is wrong with me...I don't remember this except for Sunday, Bloody Sunday and I will follow plus 40..

Fast Forward, 7785 days, 186840 hrs, 11210400 seconds, ok so that part is a little scary and a lot of things have happend in my life since that day ( more of that later ) and back to Friday, Sept 23-05 instead..

The morning is devoted to U2, There will be no other music played either in the house or in my car today, it's an official U2 day.. After seeing them at the Elevation Tour with my buddy JFK I was hooked on 5/01-2001 at the Target Center, I bought every Album, or got an album or two from a certain Randi for Father's day and The Irish boy's had converted this Norwegian.. For some reason their Music, the raw guitar, the beat, the bass along with Bono's voice stirred something in me that died with Freddie Mercury when he passed on.

I started 9/23-05 with U2 and I would be ending the day with U2.. All day long, I'm thinking, eating, snoozing in the Hammock, online with friends, at work hearing their music echoing in my head.. Limited sleep of course will also encourage a semi /quasi /cafeein endused ( Thank you Caribou) humming of tunes.. The hours, minutes, seconds just kept passing by to slowly and finally the time had come..

I am driving from our House on the Prairie to the Target Center, it's 4:10pm U2's "Vertigo" is playing in the background, the normal hustle/bustle on a Friday rush hour, driving is tense and as always there is someone else on a slower mode than yourself.. A lady in a Beetle of all vehicles were just taking her sweet o'l time, no hurry, just snoozing in the two lane traffic.. I kept thinking, I willnever get my ticket's, have dinner, and meet our friends in time at 5;30pm.

Arriving at the downtown parking lot after, Vertigo, Discotheque,Elevation,Sweetest Thing we finally park the truck and stroll down Hennepin Avenue.. A past friend was able to hook us up with Tickets 3 for GA admission and dinner at O'Donovans pub, and we are on our way. U2's official fan party is great, filled with Music, Irish Ale and some snack food, burger, fish & Chips and a whole lot more..Waitress is Irish, the food I choose is Irish, and best of all the beer is Irish it's turning into an Irish day allright :). After 1hr we decided to move on to see our friends at the Newsroom restaurant patio on Nicolett & 10th ave..
